KC - Term 4

Welcome back to Term 4! We have a very busy and exciting term ahead.

Guided reading and writing activities occur every morning, following the L3 (Language, Literacy and Learning) program. Students are independently engaged in activities to develop phonemic awareness, construct sentences and read and respond to texts.

This term the students will be learning about whole number, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions and decimals, area, 3D space and data. They will also be continuing with the TEN (Targeting Early Numeracy) program.

Students should wear their sports uniform on a Friday for sport. They also participate in fitness on Monday and Thursday. Students will be learning about safe living in health this term.

Students will be participating in the Paddock to Plate unit this term, supported by our excursion to Calmsley Hill Farm. They will be developing their scientific skills through exploring a wide range of farm animals and produce, and exploring how food is processed and packaged.

iPads are used daily in class to support student learning. Students also access the laptops every Thursday to learn computer and internet skills. In Term 4, we will be completing weekly robotics lessons on Wednesdays.

Creative Arts

Students will be developing their dance skills with Mrs Hansen on a Tuesday afternoon. Students will be also creating artworks based on books being read in the classroom and other concepts being taught.

Home reading should be completed every night. It is wonderful to see students developing their fluency and sharing their enjoyment of reading with their families. Students should also be continuing with their sight word booklets at home to support their reading and writing development. These are to be handed in every Friday.

Library lessons take place every Friday after recess with Mr McCready. Please remember your library bag and to return all borrowed books promptly.

If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me. I am very much looking forward to a fantastic Term 4!

Mrs Freya Christley
