The morning session in KS involves the students participating in activities that are linked to the L3 (Language, Learning, Literacy) program. The students engage in activities that involve them writing simple and complex sentences, reading and responding to texts, phonics and phonemic awareness.

This term the students have received a new sight word booklet that will continue to support their learning of words that are being taught in the classroom. The booklet they received is based on the needs of each student. It is important that students are participating in their sight word booklets at home to help support both their reading and writing. Thank you for your support in helping your child learn these words each week. Sight word booklets are to be handed in each Friday to be checked.

Home reading is still continuing this term and it is great to see the students enjoying taking part in this and developing their enjoyment of reading.

Term 4 will see the students continue to focus on the TEN (Targeting Early Numeracy) program. Topics being covered this term are Whole Number, Addition and Subtraction, Multiplication and Division, Data, Area, Fractions and Decimals and 3D Space.

In Science this term the students are participating in the unit Paddock to Plate. Students are introduced to and begin to practice the Science skills of observing, questioning, predicting and communicating. Students will observe a range of farm animals and farm produce, and explore ways farm produce is packaged before being moved from the farm to places where the food is sold or made into other products for sale.

The students are using the iPads in the classroom every day to help support their learning. They are working with Miss Nagle on a Monday to learn how to use Robotics. Students access laptops every Wednesday and are developing their skills in basic mouse control and keyboard use, word processing and accessing the internet.

Sport is every Friday, remember to wear sports uniform on Friday. Students also participate in fitness activities on a Monday and a Thursday. Students are encouraged to bring in a piece of fruit or a vegetable each day to eat during our morning Crunch and Sip.

Creative Arts

In Visual Arts students will be creating artworks that are based on books being read in the classroom, as well as other KLA concepts that are being taught. We will also being studying the work of other artists and recreating some of their work.

KS has a library lesson every Thursday after recess with Mr McCready. Please remember to return library books every week and don't forget your library bag.

If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to come and see me. If you would like to have a discussion regarding your child you can make an appointment with me to meet after school.
