Term 1

Welcome to our 1D class page where you can find out about some things we are learning and see pictures of some of our highlights.

This year we are learning to be mathematicians, writers, readers, scientists, designers, artists, historians and geographers – what a busy life! We are also learning how to be kind friends, independent learners and to be creative.

Here is what we have been up to so far this term…

* Literacy lessons we are rhyming and learning new spelling rules.

* Mathematics we are looking at categorising numbers and how they are represented in different ways.

* Our Science unit is Material World, and we are looking at what happens when we change everyday materials?

Homework and home reading has commenced.

Important days in the week:

Library: Tuesday

Sport: Wednesday

Clothing

Please ensure all clothing especially hats and jumpers are clearly labelled.

Absences

It is a Departmental of Education requirement that parents provide a letter explaining a child’s absence from school for short or long term or partial ie; part of a day.

Medication

Asthma medication should be kept in the student’s schoolbag and the office, and a copy of the Asthma Management Plan prepared by your doctor. All other medication MUST be kept at the office and parents will need to complete a medical indemnity form giving details of doses and times. If your child has any allergies or medical conditions that may require urgent treatment our school needs an Action Plan.

Could I kindly ask for all students to donate a box of tissues for our class. Over the coming months we will be needing them.

I look forward to working with you and your amazing child this year.
