Welcome to Term 2, 2023!
3/4S are right back into their routines after our well-deserved school holiday break. This term we welcome two new students to our class. Welcome to Indi and Zayden!!!
This term we have been studying our Science unit on Material World – What are you made of? In this unit we will be exploring matter: solids, liquids and gases and their various properties and how they change when heated or cooled. We are looking forward to our Jolly Bops incursion in late June to support our learning.
We are well underway with our Term 2 Home Reading Program and many students are well on their way to achieving 20 nights of reading! Well done! Remember when a student achieves 40 nights of reading their name goes into a draw to win a family prize!! A big thank you to all 3/4S families for their ongoing support of daily reading at home.
We have also been reading the text, Iggy Peck Architect by Andrea Beaty in class and developing our reading fluency, comprehension and vocabulary skills.
In mathematics we have been learning about angles, place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The students are continuing to enjoy their Basic Maths Facts and honing efficient addition and subtraction skills. Many are also fine-tuning their multiplication facts and practicing them as part of weekly homework. Keep up the great work!
Already this term we had a great time at the Cross Country carnival and we wish Bailey and Cade all the best at the next level!! Terrific achievement! Now we look forward to our Athletics Carnival events as part of Friday sport and our gymnastics program starting very soon!
Late in Term 1, we had an excursion to Fort Scratchley, enjoyed crazy hair on the last day of term and illustrated our class Dreamtime story, How the ocean got it’s waves. Here are a few photos of these.
