Term 3

Stage 3

Term 3 2023

Thank you, again, for coming to see our classrooms during the open-afternoon and Maths day. Here’s what Term 3 looks like:

Our Literature study for the term is Margaret Wild and Ron Brooks’ Fox. We are exploring its themes of relationships and using the changing nature of the Australian landscape for Visual Arts inspiration. Our writing is information-focused which ties very well into our Science studies on space and the solar system. We are lucky enough to have tennis coaching again this term and the second half of the term will involve Aboriginal sports and games.

The single most effective support you can give your child at home is to listen to them read. Encouraging them to fill out their Home Reading Log promotes student ownership of their learning and responsibility. A reminder that reading logs must be submitted at least once a week for students to achieve the 40 nights’ award and family raffle entry – there are great prizes such as dinners, events and store vouchers to win, so keep reading! Remember that Year 6 students need a minimum of 100 nights’ reading (logged weekly) to count towards achieving their school medallion.

Homework expectations this term continue to be:

· daily home reading, recorded in Home Reading Log

· daily practice of times tables

- Science assignment

· Studyladder activities (students may receive paper copies if requested)

Happy learning!
