Creative arts

Creative arts is mandatory for students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

In creative arts, students discover a variety of art forms through a study of dance, drama, music and visual arts where they learn to appreciate, compose, listen, make and perform.

Each art form has its own unique knowledge and skills, elements or concepts as well as a capacity to inspire and enrich lives.

Creative arts at Wyoming Public School

Wyoming provides many opportunities for our students to express their creative talents.

Dance group

The dance group performs at Laycock St Theatre in the annual Central Coast Dance Festival. Students practise during lunch times and during sport. During Term 2 our dance group auditions for the Dance Festival.

Choir / Choral festival

Wyoming Public School choir is open to all students. Our choir participates in a variety of school and community performances during the year including NAIDOC, Daffodil Day, ANZAC ceremonies, International Women's Day Expo and the Central Coast Choral Festival (CCCF) which occurs every two years. This year, students are enjoying weekly rehearsals for the CCCF 2021 during Friday lunchtime, becoming familiar with variety of songs and musical concepts.

Musical instruments

Wyoming Public School recently updated its musical instruments. We have been fortunate enough to purchase a class set of ukuleles and a wide variety of percussion instruments such as ukuleles, Boomwhackers, drums, djembes and glockenspeils. Teachers are using these instruments to deliver engaging class activities for students.

Creative arts camp

Students have the opportunity to be selected to participate in the Central Coast Creative Arts Camp. Each year talented students can apply for a position at camp which usually takes place during Term 3.

Drama festival

The drama festival runs over three days, students from across the Central Coast participate in a range of drama activities culminating in a showcase at the end. Five of our wonderful students were selected to participate in the festival last year and had a fantastic experience. Students will be nominated for this years festival later in the year.

Operation art

Students are given the opportunity to enter a piece of their own original artwork into the Wyoming Public School Operation Art Exhibition. Staff, students and parents vote for their favourite K-2 and 3-6 artworks and the winners are entered into the State Final.

Showcase and talent quest

Students have the opportunity to showcase their talents at our end of year showcase and talent quests. Students can be selected to participate in various performance pieces including, singing, dancing and drama.
