Extra Curricular Activities

Public speaking and debating

Students have the opportunity to participate in our annual public speaking competition. Students from Kindergarten to Year 6 prepare and present a speech on a given topic. Winners from each stage then present their speeches to the school community. These students then present their speech at the Hunter/Central Coast Regional Public Speaking Competition.

Our debating teams participate in the New South Wales Premier's Debating challenge each year. Students enjoy debating against other schools and learn many important skills for public speaking, critical thinking and reasoning.

Environment club

Every Monday and Tuesdays from 12.45 pm – 1.30 pm, students meet to be part of Wyoming Public School's Environment Club. Students prepare and create vegetable gardens, using our new hot house and maintaining our worm farms.

Other activities include repairing gardens, regenerating bushland and beautifying the school.

Gosford City Council provides the school with either one hundred tube stock plants or several larger specimens each year for our projects through their nursery.

Toyota Gosford sponsors our school's National Tree Day and through this sponsorship we receive approximately 100 plants, gloves, stakes and plastic barriers.

Students also learn how to care for the environment, plant and nurture plants and educate the rest of the school about environmental issues.

Sustainability and reduction of our ecological footprint is encouraged throughout the school. All classes have yellow recycling boxes for paper and a white bin for the composting of fruit and vegetables in our worm farm.

Science club

Any budding scientists are welcome to attend Science club with Mr Walter every Thursday during lunchtime. Students will have an opportunity to engage in hands-on science experiments with lots of testing, constructing and designing. Students regularly enter Toyota's  Dream Car Art Contest, with students designing futuristic vehicles. All students from 3-6 are welcome to attend.

Choir

This year is the Central Coast Festival. Students from 42 local schools will be learning a variety of songs to perform at The Arthouse in Wyong at the end of the year. Choir rehearsals are every Friday with Mrs Adams during lunchtime.
