At Wyoming Public School, we offer a variety of programs in the classroom and across the school to help students build new skills, make friends and explore new interests.

Our extra-curricular highlights

Debating and public speaking

Our school's Debating Team offers students a dynamic platform to develop essential skills such as public speaking, critical thinking, research, and teamwork. Through engaging in lively discussions on a wide range of topics, students learn to construct compelling arguments, think on their feet, and gain confidence in expressing their ideas clearly and respectfully. Whether you're a seasoned speaker or new to debating, this activity provides a supportive environment to challenge yourself and connect with like-minded peers. Incursions

Our school’s incursion program offers students unique opportunities to engage with expert presenters and participate in hands-on activities—all without leaving the school grounds. Incursions cover a wide range of topics, from science and the arts to cultural exploration and wellbeing. Students benefit from interactive workshops, performances, and demonstrations that enrich the curriculum and spark curiosity. By bringing new experiences directly to our students, incursions make learning exciting, accessible, and memorable.

Excursions

Excursions are an exciting part of our school’s learning experience, providing students with opportunities to explore new environments and deepen their understanding of the world. From museums and cultural sites to science centres and outdoor adventures, our excursions complement classroom learning and inspire curiosity. Students enjoy hands-on activities, connect with real-world applications, and build memorable experiences with their classmates. We believe that learning extends beyond textbooks, and our excursions encourage creativity, discovery, and personal growth.

Dance Group

The Wyoming PS Dance Group meets every Tuesday at lunchtime in the hall. This group opens for auditions at the beginning of each year for students in years 3-6. Over the years, the Dance Group have performed at various school assemblies, Australia's Biggest Morning Tea, Central Coast DanceFest, Central Coast Public School's Showcase, the Valley School's Leadership Forum and of course, at our end-of-year Presentation Day. Last year, under the direction of Mrs Walker, the Dance Group performed a Jazz/Musical Theatre routine to The Greatest Showman's 'Come Alive' and they can't wait to show you what they have panned for 2025!

Environment Club

Every Monday and Tuesdays at lunch, students meet to be part of Wyoming Public School's Environment Club. Students learn how to care for a vegetable garden, including planting seeds and seedlings, weeding and harvesting produce. They are taught how to grow plants through cuttings, names of common plants and how to care for a worm farm. Other activities include landscaping gardens, regenerating bushland and beautifying the school. Environmental issues are also discussed and participation in national events such as ‘Clean Up Australia’ and ‘National Tree Day’ are annual events. Students from 3-6 are welcome to join.

Sport

Sport is an integral part of our school community, offering students the chance to develop athletic abilities, teamwork, and leadership skills. Through participation in a wide range of sporting activities—whether competitive or recreational—students learn the value of fair play, perseverance, and respectful conduct. Our sports programs encourage physical fitness, promote wellbeing, and provide opportunities for students to connect, challenge themselves, and have fun. From team sports to individual pursuits, everyone is encouraged to get involved and embrace an active lifestyle.
