Term 1

Welcome to 3/4H

We were super excited to meet all of our lovely new students. We took a moment to get to know each other with some fun activities, then it was full steam ahead with our learning!

Looks like another busy year ahead. Here is just a snapshot of some of the exciting things that we’re up to this term…

We have written some fabulous pieces of poetry (Cinquain and Kennings) which are now proudly hanging outside our classroom. We are also examining the book, ‘Simpson and his Donkey’ by Mark Greenwood, which links in with our history unit ‘Community and Remembrance’. This unit of work has given us a great opportunity to not only learn about how our country has changed overtime, but also our local community. We can’t wait to finish the term with an excursion to Fort Scratchley!

Our Year 3 students have been busy preparing for NAPLAN later this term. Our Year 4’s have been very supportive, offering some words of wisdom from their own experiences last year.

The new home reading program has been a huge success so far with lots of students in 3/4H already reaching 20 nights. Congratulations, keep up the great work! Parents can continue to show their support by listening to their child read and asking questions about the book/ article etc. Remember to record it in their log each night.

Friday groups have started and this term 3/4H are really enjoying drama with Mrs Lawrence.

Swimming for sport has begun so students who are participating remember to bring all your swimming items and money on Fridays. Those members of our class who are not taking part in swimming are playing either Tennis, Netball, Dance, Oz tag, T-ball or Cricket.

3/4H will start homework in Week 7. This will include weekly spelling words with a related writing activity and an individualised times tables sheet to help develop their multiplication knowledge. It is intended to be a quick activity each afternoon that is revision based. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Reminders:

* The Wyoming Public School app for devices is free (Apple and Android). You can use this to send notes to explain absences, check the calendar of events or check notifications.

*Please ensure your child has all the stationary needs required for learning each day. This includes lead pencils, an eraser, a sharpener, a ruler, coloured pencils, glue and scissors.

*3/4H has library on Thursday.

We are looking forward to a great year ahead!
